Tim Lenton, part of the “Chance versus Purpose in Biosphere Evolution” project, recently contributed to several papers, two of which were part of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. They are, “Reply to Burgess et al: Catastrophic climate risks are neglected, plausible, and safe to study,” and “Reply to Kelman: The foundations for studying catastrophic climate risks.” Professor Lenton is the founding Director of the Global Systems Institute (GSI) and Chair in Climate Change and Earth System Science at the University of Exeter. Professor Lenton also contributed recently to the Science article, “Exceeding 1.5°C global warming could trigger multiple climate tipping points.”
